STEPHEN J. REID, JR.

Stephen J. Reid, Jr. is a partner in the firm and has a varied civil
litigation practice, focusing on employment (representing employers and
employees), business, commercial, and tort litigation. Since joining the
firm in 1989, he has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in
employment discrimination litigation (age, race, sex and disability),
sexual harassment matters, business and commercial disputes (involving
corporations, partnerships, and individuals), and personal injury cases.
His representation of clients in employment, business, and commercial
matters includes counseling clients regarding litigation avoidance.
Mr. Reid represents a large public housing agency in Rhode Island,
national, regional and local business corporations, non-profit
corporations (including churches, hospitals and country clubs),
partnerships, and individuals in many different types of civil
litigation. In addition to his appearances before state and federal
administrative agencies and state and federal trial courts, he has
argued before the First Circuit Court of Appeals and the Rhode Island
Supreme Court.
Mr. Reid is a member of the Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and American
Bar Associations and of the Rhode Island and American Trial Lawyers
Associations. He serves on the Federal Court Bench/Bar Committee of the
Rhode Island Bar Association. He is a member of the Litigation Section
of the Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and American Bar Associations and a
member of the Labor and Employment Law section of the American Bar
Association. He also has given educational presentations in the
employment law area and was named as a Rhode Island and New England
Super Lawyer for employment law in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
He is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Foundation (1997-present) and
a past President of Justice Assistance (1993-94), a non-profit
corporation which provides assistance to crime victims and also assists
ex-offenders. He is also former President of Potowomut Golf Club, Inc.
Mr. Reid received his A.B. degree summa cum laude from Boston
College and is a graduate of Temple University School of Law.
